sections: Required Calculator: TI 83, TI83 Plus or TI 84 Plus On campus Meetings: 1. All Online Math 1101 students MUST attend the first class session on the Main Campus during one of the two times allocated for the course:
Wednesday 1/6 at 5:30-6:45 PM or Thurday 1/7 11:00 - 12:15 PM in LS 101 All Math 1101 students are expected to attend Orientation, be on time, and stay for the entire session. 2. All students must attend three proctored paper and pencil exams and one proctored paper and pencil final exam. All of these proctored exams are held on the Main Campus. There are NO makeup exams nor exceptions for any student, but students may attend either session as listed below:
Exam 1: Wednesday, 2/3 5:30-6:45PM or Thursday 2/4 11:00 - 12:15PM in LS 101 Course Requirements: 1. Students should log onto the class at least every day Monday through Friday to work on the course and get assignments and announcements. In addition, lessons and online quizzes must be completed according to the course schedule. Note that the course is not self-paced. To be adequately prepared for the exams, you must adhere to the schedule of lessons as specified in the calendar. 2. Computer requirements: A). An MS Windows Computer (Windows 2000 or higher). 3. If for any reason the student cannot connect at home, students must be willing to travel to the Academic Resource Center (ARC) on the main campus during its hours of operation. The ARC is located in the lower level of the Library Building. Alternatively, students may travel to the ARC on the WRC campus. 4. All students will need a TI-83 or TI-83/84 Plus calculator and learn to use it. Each Math 1101 online lesson has calculator tutorials. 5. In addition to going through the normal registration process, the form on this page must be filled out completely and submitted before the first day of class if a student is to maintain his enrollment in the online course. |

1. Online courses are NOT self-paced. There is a strict schedule for the lessons, completing assignments and taking online quizzes. 2. Online classes are NOT easier. All the same material is covered as in a regular class. The difference is the presentation is over the Internet. Students will do proportionately more reading and less listening in an online class. 3. Your instructor is NOT a "teacher" but instead a "facilitator". He/she will answer your questions, but the initial presentation of course material is done on the computer rather than by a "lecture". Thus, students must read the lessons, view the videos, read and view the calculator tutorials. |

1. Competence in Algebra through the Algebra II level. NOTE: This knowledge must be current. If it has been 5 or more years since taking Algebra, you may need to take Math 0099 as a refresher first. 2. A successful track record in other classes. (A, B or C's) 3. Self-direction, organization, persistence, and maturity. 4. Enjoys reading and is not deficient in reading skills. 5. Ability to meet deadlines on your own. |
